Christmas in July

I caved in! I decided to scrap a couple layouts from last Christmas! It was actually kinda fun to be part of the whole "Christmas in July" thing!

For this first layout, Christmas 2009, I used my own Sketch #67:

I used my Winter Wonderland Cricut Cartridge to cut the holly leaves up top. For the holly leaves on the bottom, I used the same cartridge, but used Design Studio to stretch it out. Really, though, all the papers used here were scraps. I wasn't sure how this was going to turn out until I was done, but I absolutely LOVE how this came out.

For my second layout, Reindeer Food Bucket, I just kinda threw it together.

I used my punch to make the journaling paper look like notebook paper. I then inked it up and crinkled the left side up a bit. For the trees, I used my Winter Wonderland Cricut cartridge. I used brown cardstock and cut the treest at 8" each. Then, I used four different shades of green inks (Color Box Cat's Eyes: olive, olive pastel, dark moss, forest green). I started with the darkest green and then lightly added the lighter shades. I was thrilled with the outcome! Then, I just outlined each tree with a thick black marker.

Christmas in July, right?!

Yes, it's a little old, but I had to make sure it was scrapped! My very talented gal pal, Trisha created this amazing sketch, which you will find at Dragonflies & Daisies. It's such an easy sketch to work with and oh so much fun!

As for what I used on this layout? SCRAPS! I love it when I get to use up my scraps, don't you? I guess the only things I can point out is that I used the Threading Water punch and Thickers. For the rest, I just used the sketch to guide me.

Again, I used My Mind's Eye "Complete Boy" paper pack! I also used another one of my sketches for this one. I used my own sketch #57. Check it out HERE and upload your own take on it!

My latest layout. I used My Mind's Eye "Complete Boy" paper pack. Let me tell you, this pack has tons and tons of papers and they are all coordinating too! You gotta love that! I used my own sketch #62. Be sure to go HERE and check out the full version of the sketch and upload your take on it!

I used brads to attach the buttons and twine to add a little extra touch to the strips. I also shabbied up the edges and just played around until it all worked out.

Here is a close up of the embellies and paper strips at the bottom. It took a little time to get these strips to work together the way I wanted them, but I did finally get it and I love how it came out!

Annual HYWWP Retreat - Chicago

I can't even begin to tell you how much fun I had on this trip! I have been counting down for nearly a whole year and let me tell you, it was sooooo worth it! I would've paid double to be there. Triple!! Everyone brought something different to this retreat. There was tons of laughter and tons of activity and tons of fun! From the spaghetti dinner in the condo to the limo ride (cuz we're so glamorous) to "Livin' On A Prayer" at Bootleggers, the fun never stopped!

I am already looking forward to next year's retreat and I plan on counting down very soon! I miss my girls already!
